Re: gearbox on 97 serengeti

I've read another "fix" is to replace the plastic cover where it leaks, with an aluminum plate using the original plastic cover as a template. Place a gasket between the new plate and the body and it'll never leak again. The "plastic cover" is on the power "steering/power brake fluid reservoir"...n...

Re: 93 continental. want to add steering stabilizer. Any thoughts

I installed the Roadmaster version on my 1998 Serengeti and it helped. It still has some wander, but instead of constant small corrections as I'm going down the road, it's more of slight slow wander. Where I noticed the most improvement was driving down the two lane road to my house. It was a rural ...

Re: Allison Transmission Mode Button

I am trying to get into the habit of using this feature. I'll be curious how much it improves my mileage. Even a fraction of a MPG would help.

Re: Possible bad solenoid? How to test?

You'll want a solenoid that has silver contacts, (not copper contacts) like this one: https://www.oreillyauto.com/detail/b/cole-hersee-3171/agriculture-hd-parts---accessories-19818/agricultural---construction-20126/lawn-and-garden-25065/lawn---garden-replacement-parts-25194/cables--switches---soleno...

Re: Broken electrical component in dash

I was just thinking, the other missing half of that diode/wire could be pinched or shorting out somewhere which is what's causing you fuse to blow. Another possibility is the destroyed diode happened when power exceeding it's rating tried to go "backwards" against it causing it to blow apart - due t...

Re: Broken electrical component in dash

It's a diode, not a resistor. Silver band marks the Cathode (minus) end. Not sure what the rating on it is, possibly 10 amps. When I was troubleshooting my speedometer I noticed one in the rats nest of wiring. I looked under the dash to see if I could read the numbers but it's facing the wrong way. ...

Re: Battery isolator

I've had both style systems. My previous coach had the solenoid style and the solenoid went bad in it. I found a replacement for a reasonable price at a local auto parts store. The two important features were, it had to be constant duty rated, and had to have silver contacts. I don't remember the pr...

Re: Allison 3060 output speed sensor - solved!

Just thought I'd post an update on my speedometer issue. I did some more troubleshooting and evaluation of my symptoms compared to what is common due to a faulty speed sensor. Other than the speed error, everything else was fine. No Allison error codes, cruise control worked, my Intellidrive showed ...
