This forum is just barely staying alive so anyone with the more rare models will see even less activity. It appears the Safari Motorhome Facebook page is more active.

Check you wet bay valves for cracking

I was recently tinkering in the bay where all my water valves are, and noticed many of the caps were cracked. I'm not sure how long they had been this way, and may not have noticed this time if it wasn't for one with a drip. After much investigating, I learned the valves in my 98' are made by FlAIR-...

Re: salesman switch

I couldn't find a wiring diagram for your coach, but did find the brochure, and even though it's 5 years newer than my Serengeti, it looks very similar, so I'll offer what I found. In my 98' several relays are in or near the engine compartment, and when I cycle my saleman switch with the bed up, I d...

Re: Mystery Oil pressure switch '98 Serengeti 3706

New Duralast PS620 is in. Low pressure oil light goes off on engine start just as it should. Hopefully it'll be good for another 25 years. Actually it'll be a bonus if I'M still good in another 25 years.

Re: Mystery Oil pressure switch '98 Serengeti 3706

Update, After cleaning around the area and starting the engine, indeed this little switch is leaking. This time, when looking at the best way to get to this little stinker to replace it, I discovered there is another oil pressure sending unit, which makes for a total of three Teed off this port. The...

Re: Mystery Oil pressure switch '98 Serengeti 3706

Excellent! You've answered another age old question for me, and that's who made the gauges. Literally, as I pulled out on the road from the first campgound when starting our full time adventure, I noticed my Speedometer was suddently reading 15mph too slow. Couldn't figure out where to get a replace...

Re: Mystery Oil pressure switch '98 Serengeti 3706

Thanks, Yes, it has a single wire going to it. I wasn't even thinking about the service bay gauge. I thought possibly an idiot light on the dash in addition to the oil gauge. My dash gauges are labeled MAGNUM and the oil gauge is 0-100. I'll have to look to see what brand the service bay gauge is. N...

Mystery Oil pressure switch '98 Serengeti 3706

I was recently chasing down a small oil leak and found a drop of oil hanging off the bottom of this switch that's Teed off the main oil pressure switch fitting. Does anyone know the specs for this switch, or what it might be for?

Re: Things to look for when buying?

What year is the Trek you are looking at? What engine and chassis? The older gas powered ones were built on the Chevrolet P-Chassis which did have some weak points, some of which can be addressed with aftermarket parts. Specifically, the factory Bell cranks on the front steering wear excessively, wh...

Re: fuel filters?

With filters, like oil, you'll find various opinions. Some say Cat only, others are ok with non cat filters provided the specs are right. If I can't get Cat filters I'll use Fleetguard. I worked next door to our transportation department and they used Fleetguard on their buses. The head mechanic fre...
