Best residential-style refrigerator?
Greetings, Background: Two days ago, the Norcold 1200 refrigerator in my coach caught fire. The coach was winterized and sitting in my driveway at the time, plugged in to 50A RV power on the side of my garage, and I thought everything except the inverter/charger was turned off. Pure, dumb luck saved...

House battery charging question
Greetings, Right around this time last year I had a couple of upgrades installed to the Magnum inverter/charger system in my coach: a battery monitoring system (BMS) and an auto generator start (AGS). Both have been performing as intended; when the house batteries drop to a certain voltage, the gene...

Re: '98 Continental Tire Pressure
Saw this conversation a few days ago, but did not have access to my '98 Continental until today (it was in the shop for some maintenance work). Here is the sticker from the driver-side console in my coach: IMG_2859.jpg As you can see, the placarded cold inflation pressure is 115 psi for both front a...

Re: Crappy Wiring?
The reel was discarded long ago and I haven't missed it. Maybe again in the future, but it's not in my top 50 list of things to accomplish with this coach. I reviewed the installation guide for the Magnum inverter/charger the RV shop installed, which is a 2812. The cabling spec is 4/0 for runs up to...

Re: Crappy Wiring?
Yep, the power reel issue bit me early on. Broke the generator transfer switch and injured the Heart inverter/charger. I yanked it out but never bothered to replace it and probably won't. The transfer switch was replaced, a new Magnum inverter/charger was installed and, later on, a hard-wired surge ...

Re: Crappy Wiring?
Sounds like you got a keeper there. Mine has some of the same stuff, but, forget the labeled wiring; I had to install my own solenoids for the headlights; it's had more blown fuses and broken ground connections than I can immediately recall; and the inverter/charger is installed on the opposite side...

Re: Crappy Wiring?
Thank you for the replies, that helps me understand a little better. I still think it's low-rent on a coach whose original price tag had six digits to the left of the decimal point, but as I mentioned, the 120 VAC wiring hasn't given me any problems since I've owned the coach, which itself has over ...

Crappy Wiring?
So here is a question for people to chew on: is the Safari motorcoach poorly wired? Please read on to see why I ask the question. My 1998 Continental, which I've owned for the last eight years, is a wonderful candidate for remodeling. As a small step in that direction, my project for last weekend wa...

Re: Question about chassis/engine
The swap question refers to engine-transmission. Or more likely, as TDJohn noted, engine-transmission-drive axle. I've read elsewhere that the typical coach configuration is right around 100 lbs per HP, which suggests that the 330 HP of a 3126B might be slightly undermatched to the 35 Klbs of my ful...

Question about chassis/engine
From the What-If department:
Is the Magnum chassis in the Continental (1998-2000) that typically hosts the 3126 Cat engine the same chassis used for the C12 Cat in the Panther 425 edition? If so, and assuming I had more money than sense, would I want to try a swap?
