Re: Fuel tank vent question

Duane Mine does the same but only if filled to the very top of the filler neck, (up near the opening). Mel, That's part of what was so annoying about when mine does it - I could see it possibly if the fuel was that far up the neck, but it starts leaking before that point (thus my paranoia and irrit...

Fuel tank vent question

I've asked this before but didn't have a picture to explain what I was talking about, so here it goes again. When I fill my '96, if I'm not paying close attention I get fuel spill on the ground when the tank is totally full, and I've traced it back to the vent that comes across the top of the tank (...

Re: chassis battery

I'm hoping that before you removed the old batteries you marked the smaller wires somehow as to where they were attached and didn't simply rely on their colors - Safari wasn't the greatest in following the wiring color scheme when it comes to the batteries! On at least two of the smaller leads there...

Re: Camping parks

We ran into a few places on the West Coast that were very, very restrictive and wouldn't allow us to stay, even though our '96 looked better than quite a few of the "newer" rigs we saw when we turned around in the park. For the most part however, as soon as we send a picture we are welcome...

Re: Norcold 682 to replace

Mel, I've been giving it more and more thought as to removing the unit, capping off the water supply line where it was added and remove the filter and such for it. We have vacation planned in September, and I'm going to take a good long look at it and decide which way we want to go with it. My energ...

Re: Norcold 682 to replace

Patrick, I believe that there are some members here that upgraded to modern 12V fridges in their units, so that's an option to explore as well. Regarding your inverter, our older units are "modified sine wave" and aren't compatible with some modern electronics - thus why you see people say...

Re: with propane gas off, turn all appliances off when traveling

Patrick, I can't answer for Mel's fridge, but I can chime in about the two valves. One is vapor that normally has a regulator right in that immediate area (fridge, furnace and stove top burners run off this valve), and the other is liquid that runs back to your generator where there's another small ...

One step closer

We've been trailering a Nissan Juke for the past couple of years as our "towed", but where I store my car trailer may be coming to an end, so I decided that perhaps it was time to make a change. Went looking and found a nice '15 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk that can be flat towed (amazing how m...

Re: Rear-cap combustion air intake grid?

I used some POR paint on the deco grate I installed - nice thing about the stuff is that once it sets up, you have to grind it to do anything to it. Mine has been on for 3+ years and still looks exactly the same as when I first put it on. I drilled a drain hole in the cap piece to help disperse any ...

Re: Rear-cap combustion air intake grid?

Joey, I'm not certain about using the header grill from a Jeep, but there have been a few postings about using common 6 inch ductwork and a floor grate to move the fresh air intake as in my picture. I've noticed that my Cat runs a lot cooler since this was done - even in the 115 degree heat we encou...
