Where to have TCM/TCU rebuilt? Or order a new one?

Hey Gents, Been helping my cousin remotely trouble shoot his rig. As well he’s contacted a local Allison shop he trust. Reaching conclusion his rig’s issue is a temperamental (literally) Transmission Electronic Control Unit. Do you know of a current electronic repair facility, and/or site to order a...

Re: Bug screens

Tom, excellent story. And interesting note about the guard wasp. Here in MS we have some large militant territorial Red wasp. I’ve seen them fly out up to 12’ away to buzz a person. I like your night ops. Have watched yellow jackets fly into their inground nest in late evening and then watched again...

3 questions: Pop Rivets, Audible temp alarm, Rear inner axle seal?

Ok, have been meaning to post these questions since this past Monday and some other project takes me away from the thought. But today is the day! Three separate questions on superset systems with my Connie (‘95 Continental, 8.3L Cummins) being the common denominator. 1) Pop rivets, best ones to use?...

Re: 96 Sahara 3126 fan blade needed

Glenn,
Repeat of Brett’s words. Well written write up. My ‘95 ‘Connie’ has the 8.3L Cummins, but if ever we move to a later year with a Cat I hope to recall your excellent recommendations cations.
Thanks,
Wm

Re: gearbox on 97 serengeti

This is a quick video recapping the repair. There is at least one other good how to reply here in the group. Search the old legacy files using ‘Sheppard steering gear box’ or similar combo of words. You’ll want to leave the bolts threaded in just a bit when you get ready to start coach so the hydrau...

Re: gearbox on 97 serengeti

Goodmorning Jcking, Sounds exactly like the sector shaft seal is leaking. I replaced mine about two month back. If you call Sheppard they can give you exact two kits that contain the seals. You replace one seal and one large o-ring. Believe the 6 bolts at the end plate of the sector shaft plate cove...

Re: Transmission Fluid Change

Colin, Good morning. Along with what Brett noteded here’s a bit more You May find informative. I have an Allison dealer/shop locally so bought the dual filters as a kit and Transynd directly from them. You will need to get your s/n from the transmission plate. As there are two different lengths of f...

Re: Batteres: Chassis Battery Disconnect Switch, Ground to Starter

Good morning, Thanks to John, Bill, Mel, Charles, et al, for all your input and time. I traced my positive cables yesterday and found my culprit. I had mistakenly connected the two positive cables that run to my boost solenoid to the house batteries. After hand over hand verifying where they ran I r...

Re: Batteres: Chassis Battery Disconnect Switch, Ground to Starter

Hi John, I sincerely Appreciate the conversation today and you taking the time to respond. Few things to note regarding your opening statement about a disconnect and about how you state it should be wired. There is plenty of debate regarding disconnects on the negative or positive post. Here are a c...
