Re: Washington state bound

Brian, nice write up, I will have to remember some of those suggestions, especially around KY. Oldcobia, Badlands National Park, which is near Wall, SD is also a great place to see. If you are set up to Boondock, there is a nice area to stay at the Buffalo Gap National Grasslands, about two miles be...

Re: fuel tank access

Bob, I strongly suggest that you contact Dave Atherton (retired CAT master troubleshooter) before you start replacing CAT fuel system parts. He is really good and has saved many people tons of money, by avoiding unnecessary expensive repairs. If you are getting air into the system or have fuel flow ...

Re: Bilstein or Koni?

I have no visual of the Sumos on the rear axle, but maybe, if there is room, cutting them out with a sawsall. Also, maybe lifting the back end up high enough will give you the needed room from underneath? Maybe the shop that installed the shocks could remove the sumos? In any case, sounds like you h...

Re: Bilstein or Koni?

Either Hendersons misspoke or they are incorrect. The number he gave you is for the rear shocks, as the rear suspension has much more travel, and the shock mounts are placed differently, requiring a longer shock. Further I would add, that the rear shock should end in SP1, as it has less dampening on...

Re: Bilstein or Koni?

Sounds like someone might have installed sumo type springs the wrong way, to attempt to get rid of the bouncing and porpoising that the original style shocks caused. I'm only guessing, will be able to have a better assessment once I see some pictures. If the front shocks seem to long, then more than...

Re: Parking brake

One of the sites that I searched had a bunch of cross reference numbers for those shoes, so you don't necessarily have to go with the Maritor brand. Does your brake have an adjuster for the shoes? As for your fuel issue, when you lost prime, what was your fuel level in the tank? Where you below half...

Re: Bilstein or Koni?

Last time I spoke with Koni, they said that the shocks now can come in any color. I have received red, orangeish yellow, and black. In the older days, they use to be colored, but in the last 10 years it is a free for all, pretty much what ever color paint they can get the best price on. So I strongl...

Re: Parking brake

Bob, It appears that the number was slightly superseded. Add and E between 2 and 4. (A3 3722E421). Search that number, see what you find. When you call the place to ask about the spring, tell them that the E-brake shoes are part number A3 3722E421. If they can't sell you a single spring, they should...

Re: Bilstein or Koni?

Is your bounce coming from the front or back? Did you change the rear shocks also? If yes, what part number did you use for the rear shocks? If you did replace all four shocks, it is possible that the mechanic mixed up the numbers and put the rear on the front and front on the rear. Mechanically, th...
