'For oil capacity (depend on shallow or deep pan, call the Caterpillar RV hotline with your engine serial number:877 777-3126. THAT is the safest answer.
Strongly recommend using Caterpillar oil and secondary fuel filters. Available at any Caterpillar dealer.

'The dipstick is NOT an engine manufacturer part (Caterpillar in your case). The chassis maker (Safari/Magnum) speced and installed it. IF, repeat IF you are safe working around 240 VAC, remove the lid for the ATS with shore power OFF, generator OFF, inverter OFF:
Check wires for signs of overheating. Check connections for tightness.
Only then can you evaluate an ATS's performance.
