Since we have owned our ‘01 Zanzibar, I haven’t been particularly thrilled with the airflow performance of the rear bedroom air conditioner. There is a duct in the ceiling on each side of the bed and it also seems to feed one of the two ducts in the bathroom when it is on, but I usually keep the vent closed in the bathroom. It does blow cold, but it seems as large as this A/C unit is that being dedicated to the bedroom that the airflow would be much better. The issue is that it blows pretty decently out of one bedroom duct at the rear of bedroom next to the closet, but out of the duct near the bedroom door on the other side of the bedroom, it barely comes out as well as the bathroom when I have the vent open. The living room air is the same size and ducted as well, however, there is an ability to choose to close the ducts from the bottom of the A/C so that it shoots out of the bottom of the A/C unit rather than flow through the roof ducting. Since the difference is the inability to choose blowing air through the ducting or out the bottom of the unit in the bedroom, I wonder if there is some part I can order and install in the bedroom unit that will allow me to choose to use the roof ducts or to bypass the ceiling ducting.
Both units are original 23 year old units and working well and recently serviced by me and are squeaky clean. I am just tired of not getting the airflow I want in the bedroom but I don’t want to replace an A/C just to get it to shoot out the bottom. Anyone else have this issue or is this is good as it gets?
Any thoughts?

Re: Bedroom A/C roof ducting issues
Sounds like the ceiling duct is blocked forward of your bedroom AC. You should be getting good air from the forward vent and the bathroom vents. Remove the bottom AC cover on your bedroom AC and inspect the duct for any obstruction.
FYI, we installed four more AC vents on our ceiling to get more airflow. Made a big difference. The duct runs down the center of the ceiling front to back. Ordered four round vents identical to the original vents, used a hole saw and installed them inline with the original vents. Two in the bedroom, two in the living room.
Hope this helps.

Re: Bedroom A/C roof ducting issues
Hi Ed.
Thanks for the reply. Sounds to me like both airs run through the same center duct front to back down the middle of the coach? The two vents in the bathroom are off-canter from each other....not straight in a line. Perhaps it jogs a slight "L" in the bathroom? If I check and no blockage in the bedroom area? What else would be the cause of weak airflow from the bedroom's A/C? I'll get a wire coat hanger, remove the vents in the bedroom and poke around and see if I can't drag something out.

Consider watching some of these videos, on how people greatly improve RV a/c duct air flow on their units. Some are sold as premaid although pricey kits, some show similar DIY solutions.

Re: Bedroom A/C roof ducting issues
Glad to be of help when I can. As I like to say, we are all in it together, because we all know how much it sucks to be broke down.
