I am not sure as to where you are looking, a picture might be good.
I just took a couple of pic of my '95 Serengeti's water tank mounts. There is a few Angle Iron supports that run from side to side. They are straight as they come.
I hope the pics make the trip.
Bruce.

I saw someones Safari who's tank was overfilled or not venting out of the overflow and it did bend the angle iron a while ago. I always check that the vent dumps a bit of water as I top off the tank. I had my tank out last year to fix a previous owners misguided 4" long screw through the floor and replaced the deformed plywood that the tank sits on. download/file.php?mode=view&id=866 download/file.php?mode=view&id=867

Interesting, on my '95 Serengeti, the tank sits on the basement floor...

The layout of my coach resemble the closest to a 3790 model. It has a front entry door and the nice big triple bay window on the curb side. I only know of one other coach that has the same, identical layout as my coach does.

I'm curious, to the members who have who have a '95 Serengeti, and have a suspended fresh water tank, as pictured, is your propane tank located up front near the front axle, or in the rear, near the rear axle??? On my coach the tank is located in the rear, by the rear axle. It seems like most, if not all models '96 and newer have the propane tank located up front and also have the suspended water tank. If I recall correctly, my build date was June of '95, so maybe the coaches pictured were built towards the end of '95?

Hey John I think you've got it. Early and Late 1995.
Mine is a Late '95 built time period. Side door, Propane up front/axle, floating tanks.

I have to wonder 'what's the deal on my coach'?
It is indeed a 1995 (see pic). I've got all the owners info's on dates and such, I'm the 4th Caretaker of this coach. It started life in '95 but first Registered 1997, Washington state.
I was always have issues with ordering parts when asking for '97 whatever. The Cat is also a '95 3126. I now go off the build sticker, 1995.

Safari owner take a look at the Safari numbers on your ID plate (mine was up by the drivers seat, left) see the part after the VIN number, the Safari number. Mine say; S37D004889.
Safari, 37 Feet, Diesel and it was coach number 4889th one built. Or at least that sounds sooo good, What do you have?

The plot thickens. Lol. Very interesting indeed. If you can, please post some photos of the front and back of the coach, the gauge cluster/dashboard, and the water bay compartment. This will give a better idea of what year it is. By what you are describing, it sounds like everything about the coach points to it being a '96. My guess is, by build date, it is technically a '95, and by that time, SMC already retooled the factory for the changes that more or less occurred for the '96 model years and forward. Some of the key, changes were, the dashboard/gauge cluster, the rear tail lights when from the German Hella brand/style, to Bargmen style. Also, the CAT engine with the Silverleaf readout, instead of the mechanical Cummins engine, and as mentioned, the propane tank was relocated and the fresh water tank became suspended between the frame rails. Also, the water bay is different on the '96 and newer, and on the '96 and newer, the 50amp plug was on the outside towards the back of the coach. On the early model '95 coaches, the 50 amp plug was in the water bay.
In any case, I'm guessing that your coach didn't sell for what ever reason, or was a demo unit at the factory, and got labeled as a '97 when they decided to sell it, or their was some kind of mix up with the title. I will be able to tell more once I see photos, but my guess thus far is order parts as a '96 model year and you likely won't have problems. As for parts for the CAT engine, order parts by using your model and serial numbers of the engine itself.

So far I see the VIN tamped on the frame up front under drivers seat. Is that only location? Previous owner put on thin paneling thru out the walls. Did he cover up the vin that is supposed be under the drivers window? Guess I need to take a look there.
