We have just purchased a ‘98 Safari Trek. We have stairwell cover for thecinterior stairwell but it is not hinged. We guess that the carpeting may have been replaced at which point there was metal edging installed around the entire stairwell where flooring meets the stairwell cavity.

We want to hinge the cover. Does anyone have photos, diagrams, etc as to how this can be done ?

Shirley there has got to be some tell tale screw holes in the step cover. Most all of them used a 1" piano hinge from the Home Depot. "and stop calling me Shirley!" George Kennedy in Airplane, the movie.
