Original vs Custom Paint

Post by acruz »

Hello, I was wondering what are your thoughts/opinions about keeping the original paint scheme vs doing a custom paint job?

Background: I'm looking at a Safari that needs new paint. And I'm debating on whether (once purchased) to order the original colors, or to do something new. -This unit doesn't have murals.

What year/model.

Some were aluminum siding, later models fiberglass (under Monaco Corp.

What is wrong with the paint on there now?

Any pictures showing the "bad"areas?

Just an update, the Safari in question had the paint sanded all around for a respray, then the owner passed before it got paint.

I ended up buying a different Safari. And the paint is in not much better shape. Although it does have a mural, which is also a bit faded and flaky. For this one, I would lean towards keeping the original colors.

Search the archives on this forum, as there was a real good detailed post by a body man, on how to preserve the murals, especially if the clear coat starts flaking off...
