How to search for a phrase?

Post by LeeTN »

I’ve been trying to search for phrases on this site and have been unable to figure out how to do it. I’ve read the stuff in the search settings icon’s page… stuff like putting a +/- in front of a word to include or exclude it, but I can seem to be able to search for a phrase. When I search for something like “brake line” I get every post that has both brake and line in it, but not necessarily those two words in that order (and next to each other). I get the “brake” and “line”, but they can be in different paragraphs. Usually, the quotes around a phrase will get you the exact match, but I can’t get that to work. I must be missing something and probably gonna feel like an idiot when it’s explained to me, but if anyone can help I’d greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

Google Site Search will do a much better job than the local search box.
On the Google page type in --> site:safarifriends.org "phrase I'm looking for"
Google will look for the text string between the quotation marks.

Now that is a great trick Jeff that I will have to try as I imagine it would work for just about any website that Google can crawl.

Well I don’t know how to help you with that but it looks like Jeff has helped you below but I sure would like to see some pictures of that 1993 40 foot Continental! I bet it’s a beauty!

Yes. It works on any site pages that aren't locked behind some kind of a wall. I use it all the time.

Thanks for the reply, Jeff. That has helped me quite a bit. Sorry it took so long to thank you, but a hurricane popped up and I came out of retirement for it. Here are pics of my bus for Chuckster.

Chuck,

Did you notice the two entry doors? Not a common option for our Safaris...
