Time to sell

I am done. This is the second time in less then a year we have had to cancel a camping trip because the motor home will not start. Fired it up this morning to air it up and get ready to go then shut it down. 3o minutes later fired it up, pulled it out on the street to hook up the car, shut it down, now it wont start. last time it did this, 2 days later, it started just fine. quit frankly, it is not worth the hassle of having a motor home when you only use it 4 times a year. Even worse when it has Cat C12 and the there is no one, and i mean no one for 100 miles that can work on it. Last year i had to replace the ECM, i am runnign some tests to see if i still have power to the injectors, if i do then it must be something else. Either way, i am gonna sell it for what ever i can get. It runs and drives great when ya can get it started. it is missing the battery door and fender so i know i am not gonna get top dollar.

Went out this morning, stared right up. Shut it Dien, left it alone fur an hour, won't start again. Just turns over

Sorry to hear that, it's tough to find people to work on diesels. (At least the ones that know what they are doing.) That is one of the reasons I went with gas. It's just easier all around, finding fuel in isolated areas, parts, etc. I do all my own work (except tires) but I wouldn't be much help with a diesel coach.

Perhaps there are some "diesel smart" folks here that can help, I can't imagine that your problem is that unique.

Siletz oregin, just outside newport oregon. All the diesel mechanics here service other engines, not cat.

Sounds like air in the fuel line. Next time it's warm, try pumping the primer pump on the fuel filter housing. It should be hard to push. If it's easy, keep pumping until it gets hard.

Try jumping the master selinod in the electronics compartment. If that works just replace the selinoid. It is a easy job. We have the same rig. Engine quit rolling down of a steep decline. Found out why the buzzer on the brake is so important.

I have a 1999 and a 2000 425 panther both of them have automatic air bleeders in the fuel system After changing filters. will look for my manuals When I get back home hopefully this will help .

In your battery compartment, there should be a small fuse box camouflaged in there somewhere. There are a few fuses and one or two relays in there. One of the relays is for the CAT engine ECM. When you get a no start situation, check and see if you are getting the ignition on signal that energize the relay. If yes, see if the relay is sending power to the ECM. Often, because of corroded contacts, those small relays act erratically (sometimes working, sometimes not), and can be hard to diagnose. If that doesn't bring you results, then call Dave Atherton 605-997-0720 He is a retired CAT master troubleshooter and is very knowledgeable and helpful.

What are you asking for the coach???
