"10 Year Rule"

Post by QuantumRift »

Hello all, it's been a while since i posted here, but I am back. I have the 1996 Serengeti CAT pusher.

Has anybody run into the "10 Year Rule" at campgrounds. That is, when you go to make your reservation and you inform them of the year of your RV (and they DO ask), you get declined because they do not permit RVs older than 10 years in their park. It's like wall drive Cousin Eddie's RV....

Just wondering...

Yeah, I have. Now I just lie. No one asks for proof, like a registration.

In most cases, if your coach is in good condition, just send the CG a picture (date stamped recently).

Most CG's use the rule to keep out the "Sanford and Sons" trashed RV's from detracting from the CG' image.

I think it is also so that the coach motor actually starts back up on time when it is time for check-out.

We've been full timing for close to three years and only once were we refused reservations because of the rule. It was a quite expensive, posh resort that we wanted to check out - that was the only time. When asked we always offer to send photos. Our '98 is in very good shape and I try to keep it clean any shiny.

Note: When I say full timing, I don't mean 6 months in one spot and 6 in another. We've stayed in over 100 campgrounds of all types and price ranges, in 28 states.
