We are selling our 1996 safari sahara. No mural.clear coat is peeling, creepy windows are creeping. 94k miles.tires fresh 2 new, 4 are 2 years old.no slides.(this is what I like…my wife wants slides) Work done within last few years= new brass radiator,water pump,idler,belts alternator. 200 watt solar with 400ah lifepo4 battery bank. 40amp dc to dc charger. Upgraded 2000 watt inverter charger.new 12v dc refridgerator, uses 5 amps. On our future rig i will get another one of these. Built in traeger BBQ on 48” sliding drawer.(i may keep traeger) ice maker works great, all lights changed to LED. Original thin lite upgrades. Roof recently repainted with correct fiberglass roof paint. Trans recently serviced and fluid changed to upgraded Allison synthetic. Steering box rebuilt. 2 new fantastic fans. Bathroom floor recently redone with new toilet. Kitchen floor redone, both with pergo. The things that do not work-fuel gauge just stopped, front oil pressure gauge inop( bad wire somewhere) rear gauge still reports.

Dwayne,

If you have the Cummins engine, it could be the oil sending unit itself, they are known to get very erratic or quit all together. I have a diagram for those sensor, but my engine is an 8.3L so it might not be the same as the 5.9L if that is what you have. The sensors are next to one another, so you could swap the wire and put it on the sensor for the service bay oil gauge and see if the gauge starts working.

Are you going to buy another Safari with slides or are you going with something newer?

We have the cat 3126. It has 2 oil pressure senders. One for the dash gauge and one for the service compartment in the rear. The rear works, i replaced one sender. No change. I was able to swap wires to sender. Also no change. We are having problems getting into some parks with the clear coat looking ugly. 2 quotes to repair paint came in at $20,000 in california. We are looking at up to 2010 diesel pusher. Pre def. Cummins power. Either a safari, or national a nicely priced Dutch star is possible. Those are sweet.
My wife wants more room. I want a compartment for my traeger!
