Kitchen slide bolt keeps shearing
We have a 2008 Safari Simba 36PCT Workhorse, and it's been a really nice coach. But, we have a slide issue that keeps happening. The bolt that holds the bar to the 2 slide tracks keep shearing. If it's not one it's the other. Something is obviously iff, but can't figure what's wrong. Any input is appreciated so thanks in advance!!

I cannot see the description on the bolt head but you MUST get non sheer bolts to replace them. Look up the bolt head description on the "google verse" and get the right ones. Find someone who knows what I am talking about...."bolt supply house" not HD or Lowes

Thanks, yes! No HD or Lowes for us. Thought we had them but apparently not. Thanks for that. I'll give hubby info and post back. Much appreciated!
Re: Kitchen slide bolt keeps shearing
If (yes, if) that is a sheer pin/bolt be careful replacing with something stronger.
Sheer pins/bolts are meant to break before more expensive equipment is damaged.
Said another way, if that is the correct sheer pin/bolt, find out WHY it is breaking. Has to be excessive force somewhere in the system.
Replace it with something stronger and you may be moving the "break point" to the motor or something else you really don't want to have to replace.

Thanks. Passing this in to hubby as well. Everything seems to be in really good shape, and it's not overloaded. I found an industrial bolt supplier not too far and will be visiting them to get better bolts.
Do you know how to find out the exact bolt was original or best suited?

But you always want the "weak link" to be something inexpensive and easy to replace. Replacing it with a stronger one will just move the "weak link" to another component (likely a more expensive one).
Hopefully someone with the same model/a similar model will chime in. If not, you might ask on another RV forum with more members such as iRV2.

Re: Kitchen slide bolt keeps shearing
Finally found out what kind of bolt is needed. It's called a shoulder bolt. Short threaded area with majority of solid shank which makes it stronger. Also, not increasing to grade 8 since we do want it to break if there is another issue in the slide. Hope this is helpful to someone and thanks for input!
