'We bought our 1998 Serengeti new 20 years ago. It had been on the lot
for a year and the dealer had taken parts to service other units so ours
may not be like any other. Actually I think Safari had a reputation for
not making any two units the same. We have a 37' mid-entry with a CAT
diesel.
We have only one hot water heater. It had no switch but we added one.
If the switch is on, the water heater works if we are driving, hooked up
to electricity or running the generator. It probably works with the
Hurricane heater, too, but we haven't used that for years. We live near
the Texas Gulf Coast and when we need heat, we just use small electric
heaters.
Our power awning has a switch in the cabinet above our table. It has to
be turned on for the awning to work. We have a remote control to work
our awning. We always turn the switch in the cabinet off before we
travel to prevent it from accidentally going out. I think we originally
had controls near the door but we had some work done at the factory and
for some reason they disconnected those and gave us a remote.
I think our solar panel just provides a trickle charge to the
batteries. I don't know of any control switch.
