Emergency Road Service

Post by James Wallace »

'My service that I subscribed to through my previous motorhome
manufacturer is expiring in a few days.
I am not aware of any Safari sponsored road service.
I would like to hear from anyone who has time to respond as to their
experience with their insurer.
I am looking at Good Sam. I would appreciate any feedback, good or
bad on Good Sam or any others.

'James ,If you have AAA you can extend it to cover motorhome.Rates are
competitive.Service much better than some we've had.Progressive insurance
includes road service in their policy here in Florida(this may vary in other
states).Check whatever ins. policy you have.We found we were paying for road
service that was included in our comp policy.

We have AAA Carolinas that is very reasonable, but towing is limited
to 100 miles. I am very nervous about this limit. I don't know what
they charge per mile to tow, but it wouldn't surprise me if it is
$1.00 per. Even here in the populated east coast, the nearest Chevie
dealer that works on motorhomes is 140 miles away. Nobody wants to
work on MHs. They avoid them like the plague. The Chev service
address book lists numerous dealers, but they have quit servicing MHs.
Thanks for your input.

'We have used "RV Emergency Road Service" for several years and have been
assisted by them (towed) 3 times . Courteous, efficient , and the last

'Unless AAA changed their policy since July 1998, we called and found that
AAA DID NOT cover Class A vehicles. They did cover Class C which our old
motorhome was. We have FMCA emergency road service which looks very
good. So far we haven't had to use it.

'AAA may vary from state to state(we had to find new insurance when we left
Fla. once). They not only covered a tow in April of 2000 but, when I called
them back after
dismissing an unqualified operator in a small truck I was told to try to
locate proper service and they would reimburse. They did, promptly,no
questions.

Re: Emergency Road Service

Post by James Wallace »

'I wish to thank all those who took the time and effort to respond to
my request for advice on emergency road service. I have decided to go
with the service through FMCA which is 'Coach Net'. Coincidentally,
my previous service was the same-Coach Net so I was familiar with the
service and I could easily renew and extend the service. Again,
thanks to all for your help.
