George?? There has to be a better way than dropping the fuel tank.
Could you put a fish tape thru the frame & pull the brake line back
thru the frame. Attach a fish tape to the old brake line??'

'I ran the Brake lines through the Driver's side compartments securing them
to the upper frame. No more road crap to rust them.

No easy way to replace the original lines that are clamped from front to aft
above the fuel tank.

'I have seen the problem with the flex hose to the caliper on many
vehicles causing the caliper to freeze because of becoming clogged.
Get higher quality replacement hoses and be sure to flush the brake
fluid from the lines and use new fluid. Dust particulates in the hoses
settles in the dips and hydraulic force compresses it into a blockage.

Do you have part number's?

Does NAPA have them?

Some day I'm going to get the nerve to flush the system.'

'Yup... us too.. exactly!  The rubber on the inside of those flexible brake lines collapses.... happened to us enroute to Florida.  We got a repair shop in Henderson KY to help us out and put on some temp lines.  Then we had good ones made up by Napa with the rubber as meant to be.  I think are five total areas that have that flexible hose sections on them.   Karen and Steveio 1996 Safari Serengeti 38ft DP PARKED in over a foot of new snow in the Northwoods of Wisconsin....

On our '93 Continental, I had the left front caliper lock up. I took
it all apart and couldn't find anything. Next day, the right one did
the same thing.
Both problems occurred after a hard brake application.

Turned out the problem was the flexible hoses to the front brakes.
These hoses deteriorate from the inside. With a hard brake
application, the hoses stretch more than normal, a piece of rubber
will come loose inside the hose and block the fluid from returning to
the master cylinder.
The hydraulic shop guy said he had seen this many times.

Hope this helps...  Tad

'I just replaced the front brake lines on my 2000 serengeti.  Got the lines from Safari for $55 or so for both.  What a job to replace them.  Had to drop the fuel tank and still had a really hard time getting to them.  Don't want to do that again.   I had the left front caliper lock up and that cost me $600 as it was fried. Also cooked the ABS sensors on both front brakes. i had a dealer tell me I had to replace the master cylinder at a cost of $2000.  The Safari friends reminded me of the brake hoses going bad and that was the problem.  THANKS SAFARIFRIENDS.....you are the best.   George Umstead

'Just a note to let the Safari owners and others as well about Safari/Monaco. They are ripping us off big time. I needed a ABS brake sensor a few months ago and ordered it from Safari. COST $153.00 plus $12.oo shipping. Well, I needed another one and you cannot reach anyone at Monaco so now I'm searching for the sensor. Went to my local auto parts store and he says no go but to try a big truck parts store which I was able to find one. He's got the sensor in stock and get this.....$45.00 plus tax. Boy, do the mfg and dealers rip us off and now I say no more. Learned a big lesson!!!

Thanks for the Safari group

'Big red light on dash that said the abs was not working.  On my mh, the abs computer is under the drivers side dash.  In the middle of the box is a button.  Push the button and count the number of flashes.  The computer will tell you what is wrong.  If you want more info let me know. George
