I'm a relatively new owner of a 1998 Safari Ivory in need of information on replacement belts for my CAT 3126B engine. I've looked at my build sheet (none listed there) and tried to read any numbers from above and below, but can't see any. I'm about to leave on a trip but I don't want to go without spare belts.

Ron,

The best thing you can do is locate your Cat engine serial number. With that you can look up the belt numbers on the Cat Parts web site. [

You can also take the number to your Cat dealer and get what you need.

'Assuming your 3126B has two belts (like my 3126E), CAT can only tell you the V-belt that drives the water pump. The coach manufacturer specifies the AC compressor and the alternator, and thus only they can say which serpentine belt was used. You may be able to read a number on the outside surface of the existing belt.

My 1998 300HP Cat 3126B shows the serpentine belt to be 1-3/32" X 70-1/2" in the previous owner's records, and not a CAT item.  As Bill says, the V-belt that drives the water pump is a CAT item that came with the engine from CAT, so with your engine SN any CAT dealer can get you one.  Both of mine were replaced in 2016 (for the first time) by RV World in Nakomis, FL, but I have no part numbers.   Based on the length of the serpentine belt, I believe the Dayco number would be 5080705.

The consensus seems to be:

The water pump (V Belt) is all agreed on CAT 0366775, or NAPA 0336 (1/2" x 34")

But, it seems that my serpentine belt could be a 69", 70" or a 70 1/2", was hoping I would hear a common size.

Unless it's possible that any of those sizes would work? Any ideas on that possibility?
