crank no start because of air in the lines?

Hi everyone,
I have a crank no start problem on my Safari (CAT 3126) and I noticed that if I push the button on the fuel water separator several times, engine starts. Is the fact that priming seems to solve the problem indicative of air in the lines? If yes, how to remove this air?
Regards,
Patrick

'Two things could cause those same symptoms:
1. As you mention, a leak on the suction side from tank to lift pump. Could be aged fuel line, could be bad gasket or improper installation of a fuel filter.

2. A bad fuel check valve (back of head) that allows pressure to bleed off.
