Air Filter Part Number 1997 Sahara

Post by Jumpnjoe59 »

I have done a search on this group and surprisingly I have not been successful in finding a part number for the air filter for my Sahara.  I am surprised because I am sure others have had to change their air filters.  Maybe it was an easy solution.  Can one replace only the filter or does the tank also have be replaced?  Sorry if this has been answered and I missed the thread.

'Joe, on my 96 Sahara it is necessary to replace the filter and entire canister as it comes as one piece. I will go out to the motor home in a few minutes and I will get a part number and photo for you. Is yours like that?Joe Burch1996 Sahara

Joe,

If you have searched through all the files including the folders like my 98 Safari Sahara, you would find manuals for some of the coaches and most of them define the belts and filters. You could also search the Messages.

I am curious how you got a B engine in a 97 since that engine come out in 98. If your engine SN starts 1WM... it is a 3126 2 valve, a SN of 7AS... is the start of the 3126B.

Just saying,

Joe the Napa number is 6857 for filter on mine. If yours is the same as mine just go to Napa give them this number and you can pick it up.  they are around $150 each. They're pretty expensive.   See attached photo of my airfilterJoe Burch1996 Sahara3126 Cat

'This is interesting as my December 1998 produced (‘98 model) has a ‘97 (WM1) engine, 300 hp).  I have read it is not unusual for a coach builder to have left over prior year engines they use their in next years chassis/coachs.v/r,

Engine Year/Coach Year different (was: Air Filter Part Number 1997 S

Post by mel96safari »

' & Taylor HudsonThat explains how "earlier year engines" got into some "newer year coaches".
However it doesn't explain how, (or where), SMC/Magnum got a Cat 3126B engine to put into Joe's 1997 Sahara.
(See Joe's signature on his message #42755).
