Time for a HUGE interior upgrade
Time for a HUGE interior upgrade
I have started a large interior renovation to our ‘01 Zanzibar 3646 side entry SMC coach to paint cabinets, new soft close drawer slides throughout, install LVP wood flooring throughout except bedroom to have new carpet and padding, new quartz countertops, all new appliances, new sink, new theater couch, paint and blinds. She is parked for the winter in her 45’ indoor heated RV bay. She only has 50K miles on her and with the great “bone structure” she has, she is worthy of the renovation upgrade plans.
Wish me luck!

Re: Time for a HUGE interior upgrade
Here are photos of a progress update with the new LVP flooring and carpet replacement in the bedroom areas.
The first few photos show how we trimmed out the cabinets in the kitchen where the slide out is with a short 1.5” trim with foam tape skirt floated a hair off off the floor so that food or things dropped couldn’t get underneath the cabinets easily. This was necessary due to the demolition of the original ceramic floor and backer board with thinset because the LVP flooring was at least a half inch shorter overall.
Here are some photos of the LVP floors
The steps were tricky and very time consuming but came out nice

Re: Time for a HUGE interior upgrade
Here are some photos of the new carpet and padding we put in the bedroom, inside the closet and around the bed framing. We used the same carpeting (without padding) on the driver’s and passengers bulkheads.

Re: Time for a HUGE interior upgrade
I replaced the AC outlets in the hallway and bathroom with some Amazon outlets that have a built in LED night that can be adjusted for brightness. They cast the warm light downwards. The wiring in the hallway was so short and tight that I had to extend it and then wrap all the twist connectors together with a nice, tight wrap of electrical tape. The bathroom wasn’t much better but I was able to work with what I had without the same monkey business.
I also changed out the overhead LED light bulbs from a cold blue to a warm yellow in kitchen and bedroom. Shown here is half installed a cross the kitchen and living room to show the difference. These lights hide behind the trim that goes all the way across and has been removed in preparation of cabinet refinishing and painting with an epoxy blend for durability against scuffing, scratching and marring.

Re: Time for a HUGE interior upgrade
In addition to the new farmhouse sink, Culligan water filtration and faucet in the kitchen we are replacing the bathroom countertop with matching “linen” quartz and a new under mount white oval sink with overflow drain and a taller single handle faucet. Here is the demolition photos. A couple show the old ceramic tile that is now gone as well.

Re: Time for a HUGE interior upgrade
The new countertop range will be converted from NG to LPG and requires a 110V ignition circuit. Installed the circuit yesterday by tapping into the junction box behind the cabinets.

Re: Time for a HUGE interior upgrade
Things are starting to come together in the galley. Got the farmhouse sink in, the quartz installed, the GASLAND stove and the Culligan cartridge water filter.

Re: Time for a HUGE interior upgrade
Looks good, but I would be concerned about that electrical outlet with the wire nuts outside the box. They need to be in a box with a cover on it. If you have a short wire problem the remote box needs to be accessible somehow. On an rv I would also tape the wire nuts with a good electrical tape. Things work loose going down the road. Better safe than sorry.
