3126B Radiator Hoses
3126B Radiator Hoses
Anyone know part numbers for the radiator hoses for a CAT 3126B in a Sahara? Suspect mine are original to the coach and would like to replace soon when I flush and refill with new CAT ELC.

I bought a couple feet of 2" hose and cut them to length. I have a part number for the 90° elbow somewhere. I just replaced it a few months ago with a silicone hose.

Re: 3126B Radiator Hoses
I took all my old hoses to our local "House of Hose" and was able to match them all up with silicone hoses instead - they were all basic hoses with the exception of the one small one between the water pump and the outlet above it (which unless you are doing something with your water pump you'll never see) I had gone into my local Cat dealer and priced out the hoses from them, and the diff between silicone and OEM was so small that I went with the silicone simply because they hold up better.

Thanks for the responses, Duane and Bob. Amazon has the 2" i.d. Gates green stripe hose in a straight 3 foot length (Gates #24232) . Are both upper and lower hose i.d. 2", and would a 3 foot length be sufficient for the job?

I believe it will be enough. Don't forget to change all the clamps.
I had changed my hoses and clamps a few years ago so I figured they were good .
Two of the hoses leaked and when I tightened them they stripped out.
Good time to change the thermostat (regulator) while the system is drained down

Re: 3126B Radiator Hoses
Thanks for the comment, Bob. My 3126B has two regulators. Already have them, the CAT ELC, distilled water, new 7 lb pressure cap for the surge tank. Trying to gather everything I need, including the new clamps (8 of them?) so it gets done right. Also have the coolant flush (CAT). Looking at possibly re-doing the heater box hoses as well, but have to figure out if 1/2" or 5/8" or 3/4" i.d. and buy a 50' length.

Gary,
Very unlikely that the heater hoses that are protected inside the basement are damaged.
A good option is to replace the section of the heater hoses that are in the engine room and use a good barb to barb "splice" to connect the new with the old sections.

Re: 3126B Radiator Hoses
Gary,
I agree with Brett about heater hoses. I replaced mine from the elbows in front cap up to the heat exchanger box along with their elbows this past summer. I also had to replace the mechanical heater actuator valve in line. I'm not looking forward to the day when I have to replace the entire length of hose back to the engine bay. You noted you would be flushing, so just a reminder be sure to flush the heat exchanger as well.

Re: 3126B Radiator Hoses
Brett & Bill,
Thanks for the comments. Am I to assume the hoses run down the frame rail, through the basement might be anchored to the frame rail to hold in place, so near impossible to replace? Only the hose in the engine compartment and forward of the basement is removable to replace?
Is the hose 3/4" i.d.? Wouild like to replace all the coolant hoses, period. Be nice to know if that is possible from someone who may have tried and either succeeded, or was unable to do so.
As an aside, within the past month I had to have the brake line from master cylinder to the rear axle replaced because of a leak somewhere in the basement along the frame rail. Impossible to restring that fiddle the way it came out of the chassis factory, so it was run underneath the basement, buried inside flexible electrical conduit. Similar could possibly be done with the heater hoses if it can't be pulled through basement along the frame rail.

Re: 3126B Radiator Hoses
I replaced my heater hoses in the engine bay . I added shutoff valves so I could shut off if something happened to the old hose.
3/4" hose on mine
3/4" hose on mine
