Hello. I am a new member. Have a 2000 Beaver Monterey 38' double slide with Cat 300hp. The metal tube that runs from air filter inlet across the cylinder head to turbo must get pretty hot. If it was wrapped with some sore of insulation material would it help or hinder the performance??

So, yes wrapped would likely give a very slight improvement in power and MPG-- very slight.

Big downside is that the wrap would also hold any water that splashed up and materially speed rusting of the tube.

I would not do it.

Thanks for reply wolfe. I may still try it with a water repellant insulator with some sort of makeshift heat shield. The motor home is in Calif.and see's very little rain and I won't drive it in the rain. We use it for towing a race car to the drags and places like Pismo for long weekends. This may help a little for up hill climbs.
