1995 Safari Sahara M-35 Powersteering/brakes help?

Post by bprice73 »

Hello

My dad owns a 1995 Safari Sahara M-35 Diesel Cummins RV, he is getting too old to drive this RV around and I am going to help him sell it and get a truck to pull a smaller camper. Anyway his powersteering pump is leaking so he is having brake and powersteering issues that needs fixed before he can sell it. He has dropped it off at two shops only for it to set there for months with them not doing anything. They claimed it was because they could not find a pump. I am realizing the parts now are hard to find, is there anyone that can help? Can we send this pump to someone to rebuild or somewhere that we can buy a used or new one?

Any help would greatly be appreciated or if anyone knows of someone that would be interested in getting the RV cheaper as it sits? You can add fluid to the pump and drive it just have to keep a eye on the levels it doesnt leak too bad.

Again thank you in advance for any help or advise, and if I need to post this somewhere else to get better help please let me know.

bprice73,

I highly doubt that you Sahara is on a Chevy chassis, starting in '94 SMC started building the Sahara, Serengeti, and Continental models on their own in house chassis, called Magnum chassis. Do you have any tags or literature that states Magnum chassis?

The three in the M30 you mention is likely an eight. Most of if not all of the SMC built Magnum chassis coaches had a Sheppard M80 steering gear box.
I would suggest doing a search on this group of "Sheppard M80". You will find that people have purchased new, had them rebuilt, or resealed them themselves. The various posts on this topic also includes the shops and/or rebuilt companies that did the work.

What region are you in?

What issue are you having with the brakes?

What are you asking for the coach as is?
What will you be asking for it fixed up?
How much miles on the coach?

If you can please post some pictures of the coach?
