Rear-cap combustion air intake grid?

A few(several years ago), someone had made a mod to their coach by relocating the combustion Air intake from behind the rear wheel, to midway up the p-side rear cap.
The intake grill was the header grill from a Jeep(YJ)?
It didn't look extremely difficult, and provided a method of ingesting engine air without getting a snoot full of road debris.
Any reference to the old article would be greatly appreciated. .
I'm also looking for the document repository of Jim Exler. Many of his great posts seem to have unavailable links.
Stay safe

Joey,
I'm not certain about using the header grill from a Jeep, but there have been a few postings about using common 6 inch ductwork and a floor grate to move the fresh air intake as in my picture. I've noticed that my Cat runs a lot cooler since this was done - even in the 115 degree heat we encountered in Las Vegas several years ago. I got the information from Steve and Karen Pfundtner's post regarding a kit that used to be available from Safari for that purpose. My grill is a little bit more decorative, but you can stand there and feel the air moving past your hand into it.

Duane and Mel(JimE, Karen and SteveO).
Perfect! Perfect! That’s exactly what I was seeking.
I much prefer the ornamental grates vs the YJ cowl grate that was considering.

Attached should be the YJ cowl intake.

I used some POR paint on the deco grate I installed - nice thing about the stuff is that once it sets up, you have to grind it to do anything to it. Mine has been on for 3+ years and still looks exactly the same as when I first put it on. I drilled a drain hole in the cap piece to help disperse any water that gets into the intake, but since we don't drive in the rain I have no idea how much of a difference it makes (we are pretty much fair weather RV'ers).

Tnx, Duane. After being parked for the last ~5 years, I’m finding that we’re fair-weather navigators. ~200 miles/day, averaging 45mph(food/fuel/potty breaks/dog walks/etc). Early on, the job was getting from Source to Destination, and it started to feel like work. Now, it’s a carefree jaunt, and I enjoy the journey quite a bit more.

Does any one have a thought on where to find the 7" air intake flex line.
I haven't found anything yet in an automotive line.
Thanks, Bob

Thanks Mel,
you are right 6".
Unfortunately I only need about 5' so a 25'roll would drive the price way up.
I am thinking 6" solid drain tile would work
