passenger seat

Post by mikeoc »

Hi folks, my wife is having an issue sitting in the passenger seat with only the lap belt. She had a serious accident a year ago and is now very nervous traveling in the coach sitting in the passenger seat. there has to be a few more spouses out there that do not like the front seat. Any suggestions to help make her more comfortable would be worth a try. thanks very much.

Two suggestions come to mind. One, you could install a seat that has a three point seat belt that is integrated into the seat.

Two, which is often the bigger/unsettling issue, the passenger seat on a flat nosed coach can be intimidating to say the least. Often the illusion from the passenger seat is that the coach is riding too far to the right, giving the feeling that you will end up with a few mailboxes in your lap. The solution for that is to find a parking lot with good lines or park along a long curb and have the passenger find the reference point of where the curb "visually" meats the point on the dashboard/bottom of windshield. Mark that point with a piece of bright tape. Do the same thing, putting the left side of the coach against the curb or painted line and mark the left side reference point. This way the passenger knows exactly were the coach is positioned on the road and can warn the driver with reasonable accuracy if the coach is veering too much to the left or right, if the driver happens to get distracted. By knowing the real position of the coach, this will greatly reduce the anxiety level for the passenger. It is a low cost effective solution. One could also make the same markers on the drivers side, as this will be greatly helpful when traveling through those narrow construction zones...
