'98 Harney Renegade / Magnum-R / Front Brakes

Post by win7h »

Looking for information on the brakes on this unit, as the right front is locked/dragging after a hard stop.
Unit VIN shows as included in the range for Harney 1998 units (attached PDF has the full recall info).
Note that the recall is of BOTH the 66mm and 73mm piston size brakes (some sources say 73 was not affected).

There is a number-series on the front surface of the Westport axle on drivers side "090510-000" (and a funny character, then) "V7H"

The calipers seem to have cast in numbers - driver side "3308" (or "3306"), "3", "0578" ("brake caliper 1.jpg" is after wire brush, before marker,

"brake caliper 2.jpg" is after using a marker to try and make the numbers more readable) - in both images the number (partial?) "HN14" is seen
on the backing plate of the inboard pad.

Length of the rear of the caliper is shown in "back of caliper length.jpg" (7.875 inches from the end of the casting at bleeder to end of casting at line)

The length of the end of the casting at the brake line area is shown in "at brake line length of casting.jpg" (appears 2.75" approx)

There are numbers on a "flange"(?) that seems to be part of the stationary (non-sliding/moving) portion of the brakes - "17" "3287"
that area is pictured in "A - numbers on flange.jpg"
