Only 3V DC on wires connecting CO2 alarm

I noticed the red light out on my built-in CO2 detector in the kitchen and thought it finally gave up the ghost. I pulled it out and I measured the voltage on the wires and I am only getting 3V whether or not I am plugged into shore power. The rest of 12V items are working including ceiling lights. Is this connected back to house batteries or motor battery banks? Thoughts?

Regards.

You have lost the ground from the last light, closest light to the CO detector. CO detectors are put on the end of a run usually the lights. Pull down the closest light, CHECK the twisted mar connectors. test wires for continuity from the CO detector back to the light. Been there, done that!
