in search of original camera at rear in 97 Safari

Post by burdenh »

Hello Everyone,
Has anyone replaced their original rear camera with an upgraded version AND still has the original working camera? I am satisfied with the original setup as I primarily use it to check on the toad when traveling. The original camera measures about 4"long x 2.5" x 2.5" and has a coax connection and 12 hot and ground wires.
Thanks,
Hubert

I’m almost positive I have one from my 1999. I have a grand kid Bday today but I’ll check by tomorrow.

I am a '92 Serengeti owner with the stock, similar design camera setup. If I come across one in my searches I will let you ( OP ) know.

Otherwise I have not been able to get it working, as there was no display when I purchased the MH. I've tried connecting the coax above the driver seat to an LCD Monitor, assuming the lit dashboard rocker switch meant there was power to camera in the rear, with no success.

If anyone would have a wiring diagram, it would be deeply appreciated.

I don't have a wiring diagram, but this is my understanding of the way the stock camera works: When you flip the rocker switch, the inverter turns on and powers the TV (if it is connected and turned on) AND 12V power is sent to the rear camera to power it up. In my case, when I flipped the camera switch, the TV works and there is power at the rear to the camera, BUT no camera image. Therefore I believe the camera has quit. Check to be sure you have 12 volts at the rear camera.

That looks longer than the original camera in my coach but it may fit. What year coach was it removed from?

I'm guessing it's not the one you want.

If it worked when you removed it I'd like to give it a try. What are you asking for the camera?
