Battery Config

I have a 1994 Safari. It has not been used in several years and need to replace the batteries and cables. Does anyone have a picture or diagram of how the batteries are ran in series and connected to the electrical system? Some of the cable are missing so I do not have a reference of the correct installation of batteries. Also, a good vendor to buy the new cables and connection cables to put the batteries in series.

Please tell us what coach you have.

Advice for a Safari Trek won't do you much good if you have a diesel pusher.

I know it is a Safari diesel pusher. I am not sure where to find the actual model. Is there a tag on a door or something that I can find that info. 6 batteries and a big battery tray at the rear of the coach.

Six 6-volt batteries wired in series-parallel for a 12-volt system.

OK, but better if positive and ground to house come off the opposite pairs. For example positive off the top pair (as in the picture) and ground off the bottom pair.

It looks like the previous owner had 6 12-volt marine batteries in there. Can you do that? I know the 6 volt batteries are about 1400 for 6 of them.

Depends on what brand and where you buy them. I bought Interstate GC-2 batteries at Costco for under $100 each w/exchange. The reviews weren't that good on the Interstate batteries. I took them back and when to a Continental Battery distributor near me where I purchased Trojan 125 batteries for about $150 each - cash money out the door for the batteries but because Costco kept my old batteries and only gave me $15 a piece for them, I had to pay Continental a $30 core charge. I'm still happier with the Trojans. Call around to the golfcart repair shops and check prices for batteries with them.

You can have as many or as few 12V batteries as you want. They are connected differently - all wired in parallel.

Going with 6 VDC golf cart batteries is the least expensive way to get deep cycle batteries.

Sure, you can go with 12 VDC batteries, but to get the same quality, they WILL be more $$.
